  1. Hey Leon,

I'm glad that you're reading widely. One thing I learnt in my archi course is that you shouldn't just read material that is directly connected to your field of study, but take reading as leisure time.

Anyways, LOTR is a great read. Unbelievale imagination for its time (1950s). I read from start to finish (the complete edition) and sometimes still read it again.

Anyways, about my current reading agenda:

    - Just finished "The Green Mile" by Stephen King (a great novel with many themes worth pondering on, but the plot itself is a tad disappointing for King material). One of the non-horror stores written by King.

    - "Dune" by Frank Herbert. Dune is to SF what LOTR is to fantasy. One of the masterpieces of SF. Struggling though... Dune is a difficult work to comprehend sometimes. 1/4 through only.

    - Currently on my bedside pile, next up. "The Unconsoled" by Kazuo Ishiguro. Reviews say it is another difficult one (most readers lose interest in first 40 pages). You don't get what the story is about until about 3/4. I don't know. Determined to try it though.

Next up I'll probably try "Catch 22" by Joseph Heller (haven't gotten my hands on it though). Ahh this happens to be another "masterwork" of fiction (I don't know; I don't have a bias towards so called "masterpieces", just happen to be interested).

    Alvin
